RUSTY (All six children enter talking) Hey, Piper! What’s so important about
RUSTY How come you always get to pass the offering plate and Sandy gets
PIPER That’s because I’m older and have been in this class longer than you.
You’ll have things to do when you get older. Besides, would you
wanna sing by yourself in front of everyone in this class?
PIPER Here comes dad now. (Beryl enters) Why don’t you ask him about it?
RUSTY Dad, why is it so important for us to go to Sunday school, even when
that as our lesson for today. Open your Bibles to Hebrews 10:24 and
we’ll see what God’s Word has to say. Rusty, why don’t you read
good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the
manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more,
works. We need to encourage others to serve the Lord so that they can
encourage others in the same way.
RUSTY O.K., I understand that, but what other reasons are there?
BERYL I was getting to that! It’s fun and enjoyable to do things that help other
people to enjoy a life with Jesus. When we get together, we have what
RUSTY Is it like what we do after church, like having a church picnic and when
SANDY Singing songs about Jesus is one way we can worship!
BERYL Very good, Sandy! I can tell that you’ve been a good listener. And you
know, by being a good listener, we can set an example for others to
follow. There’s one more verse that I’d like to share, it’s Psalms 133:1.
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together
SANDY It’s talking about those who are brothers and sisters in Christ, and how
nice it is when they’re together. Since we all have Jesus in common, we
BERYL That’s right! We can enjoy being with each other, because we all
BERYL I do, too, Rusty! I do, too! (all say good byes and exit)
