RUSTY  (All six children enter talking) Hey, Piper! What’s so important about

              going to Sunday school?
PIPER    Why do you ask, Rusty?
RUSTY   Well, I don’t get to do anything. All I ever get to do is sit, sing and
listen. I’d like to do more than that!
PIPER     That’s about all I ever do!

RUSTY   How come you always get to pass the offering plate and Sandy gets

              to sing?

PIPER    That’s because I’m older and have been in this class longer than you.

You’ll have things to do when you get older. Besides, would you

wanna sing by yourself in front of everyone in this class?

RUSTY   Well, . . . I . . .

PIPER     Here comes dad now. (Beryl enters) Why don’t you ask him about it?

BERYL   Good morning, boys and girls. It looks like everyone is here today!

RUSTY   Dad, why is it so important for us to go to Sunday school, even when

              there’s nothing to do?
BERYL   That’s a good question, Rusty! I’m glad you asked that. Let’s have

that as our lesson for today. Open your Bibles to Hebrews 10:24 and

we’ll see what God’s Word has to say. Rusty, why don’t you read

              verses 24 and 25?
RUSTY   O.K., Dad! “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and

good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the

manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more,

as ye see the day approaching.”
BERYL   You see! We need to help and teach each other to love and to do good

works. We need to encourage others to serve the Lord so that they can

encourage others in the same way.

RUSTY   O.K., I understand that, but what other reasons are there?

BERYL   I was getting to that! It’s fun and enjoyable to do things that help other

people to enjoy a life with Jesus. When we get together, we have what

              we call “fellowship.”

RUSTY   Is it like what we do after church, like having a church picnic and when

              we play ball together?
BERYL   That’s right! We also need to come together to worship the Lord and
              quietly listen to God’s Word.

SANDY   Singing songs about Jesus is one way we can worship!

BERYL   Very good, Sandy! I can tell that you’ve been a good listener. And you

know, by being a good listener, we can set an example for others to

follow. There’s one more verse that I’d like to share, it’s Psalms 133:1.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together

in unity!” Can someone tell me what that means?

SANDY   It’s talking about those who are brothers and sisters in Christ, and how

nice it is when they’re together. Since we all have Jesus in common, we

              can all worship Him together.

BERYL   That’s right! We can enjoy being with each other, because we all

believe the same. Say, it’s time for refreshments, everyone!
RUSTY   Oh, boy! I really like to fellowship like this, Dad!

BERYL   I do, too, Rusty! I do, too! (all say good byes and exit)
